ICYMI: Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) has been a challenging but mandatory requirement within any enterprise IT system. According to a recent survey, 60% of the digital transformation stories covers with integration requirements. So it is quite evident that, integration is an integral part of your digital transformation journey. If you are an experienced integration architect or a developer, you know about the plethora of vendors and solutions available in the market. They have different strengths and weaknesses. But we know for a fact that there is no “Silver Bullet” in the integration landscape. WSO2 has been building a collection of middleware products which can serve almost all the requirements which may occur in a digital transformation project (or any IT project). There was a time it had produced 20+ products serving different requirements. Even though that model has advantages to some of the customers who start small and use only a portion of the platform, it had more disadvantages to the customers as well as to WSO2 when it comes to maintenance and releases. 24 Hour Fitness, the world’s largest privately owned and operated fitness center chain, is using distributed in-memory computing solutions to speed things up as well as decouple data from its database.

Craig Gresbrink, a solutions architect at 24 Hour Fitness, was a featured presenter at the third-annual In-Memory Computing Summit North America – Oct. 24-25 near San Francisco. While in Barcelona for SAP TechEd 2017 I had the pleasure to meet with Philips Lighting and learn about how they use SAP Cloud Platform to help cities and owners of sites to facilitate better engagement with citizens, improve strategies to boost tourism and enhance value for the local economy by measuring the social and economic impact of illuminating city landmarks.

Philips lights some of the world’s most iconic landmarks including the Empire State Building, Bay Bridge, Edinburgh Castle, London Eye, and more.

One example of this is The Bay Lights, a light sculpture on the San Francisco Bay Bridge, which has shown to have enormous positive impact on the local community.
