So you can see the registration is open for our next chapter meeting in Northern Virginia.  We listened and followed the ASUG Virginia Chapter Survey results and you can see over 62% of ASUG Virginia Chapter members prefer meeting in Northern Virginia.

July 27 ASUG Virginia Chapter Meeting, Virginia Air & Space Center – Save the Date

Plans are confirmed for this ASUG Virginia Chapter meeting to be held at NASA Langley Visitor Center in Hampton, Virginia.  This is being lead by ASUG Board Member Rudy Hendricks and ASUG Virginia Chapter Chair Keith Seckman.  The chapter hasn’t held a meeting in this area for several years, and kudos to Keith for thinking of this location.  According to the 2017 survey the Hampton area is the third requested location for the ASUG Virginia Chapter.

The video above gives you an indication of how the meeting will look.  You can also take some time to visit the exhibits, as the chapter meeting is tentatively planned to end at 1:00 pm.

I’ve been to the National Air and Space Museum before, but I haven’t visited “Coastal Virginia” so I am looking forward to this meeting.  Call for speakers is planned for in May.

More to come on the Fall Chapter meeting in Richmond (the 2nd requested location from the survey) later this year.  Special thanks to returning ASUG volunteer Melody Abadam and Altria for hosting ASUG again.

ICYMI: Currently, many technologies are based on APIs and Microservices, and, if they are not based on them yet, they are moving in that direction. From my experience as an Information Technologies engineer, most people in the IT segment know or have at least heard of APIs (Application Programming/Protocol Interface). It is also relatively clear that APIs should be somewhere in the middle layer, between the backend and frontend, or the database and backend, or something similar.

The aim of this post is to learn to create a simple API based on Spring Boot, which is a framework for creating Spring applications. Spring Boot is a project from Spring by Pivotal and, nowadays, is consumed quite widely in Java, Kotlin and Groovy.
